I was not sure where else to put this so I'll put it here. Does anyone know exactly what the requirements are, and how you go about getting your channel "verified" with the checkmark badge? I have seen all the videos about it and they all say you need this many subscribers and this many Google+ followers and all this. Yet, I have seen channels with 500 subscribers be verified, some with networks, some without. Some say you have to contact YouTube, some say you need a network to ask YouTube...it's all contradictory.

I have about 80,000 subscribers and I sent YouTube an email and they said I need 100,000. There are channels with 200,000 subscribers that are not verified, some like I said with only 500 that are.

It seems like there is no rhyme or reason to this.

Does anyone know?

I don't believe it's that simple.

Here is a channel with over 1 million subscribers that is not verified - youtube/user/PrestigeClips

Here is a channel with only about 300 subscribers that is verified - youtube/channel/UCusFtRptvfLnfSVOuC2-2hw

I'm not sure about how to get a channel verified. I always assumed it was after a channel reached 100k subscribers... It wouldn't surprise me if it has something to do with who your email was sent to...Some people might verify accounts more leniently than others. It isn't fair, but when I had a somewhat-similar customer service job (cell phone industry...), I saw unequal rule enforcing among employees happen all the time...

I believe there are a few channels here that have been verified, so hopefully they can help out. =)
 
Here is a channel with NO videos, only 13 subscribers, that is not partnered with a network, and is somehow verified.

There has to be something we're missing here.

Yes and they said I need 100,000 subscribers. I replied with all the evidence of all these channels with low subscribers and videos that somehow got it, and they said "We cannot comment on how they got it." I think at this point we have debunked this 100,000 subscriber nonsense. There has to be a way.
 
I got my verification at 50k subs 2 weeks after I added my website to the channel settings and it verified. Maybe a domain has a lot to do with it?
