Using YouTube to Make Friends (& money talk)

Many people start to make YouTube videos because of the money; also, many popular YouTubers continue to make videos solely for the money. I currently have three videos on my channel, and while money has crossed my mind (you just can't not think about money), the main reason I want to grow on YouTube is to meet new people. I'm not sure how many of you watch vlogging channels such as guys from the 02l house and jennxpenn (random examples), but that's what I've always wanted to be. I think it's amazing how they get the chance to do what they love with their friends. Also, the places they travel is simply amazing! So why does money always have to be such a huge concern? I love making YouTube videos and I will continue to! Hopefully I will meet long-lasting friends along the way. I would love to hear your opinions on this topic!
 
To correct you. Many people make videos because they enjoy doing them, or at the very least want to see if it's something they'll like doing. Granted, there are people that solely do it for money, and will never get far if that's all they care about. Also, yes, popular YouTubers don't really use "just" YouTube as their source of income, if anything it's most likely the lowest portion. YouTube is a great way however to promote their business, and get themselves noticed, and are then able to do bigger, and better things.

YouTube, itself, is NOT hard to do, at all. If you have the passion, and will to learn it, you will. Depending on what you do, it's a lot of trial, and error. Though, it's always important to remember to have fun while you're doing it. You can admire other YouTuber's, and even aspire to be sort of like them. However, don't try to BECOME them. Do what you love, and enjoy. Your audience will feel the passion you have for it, and gravitate to you.

I do youtube for reactions really. I mean much less so these days because I've lot most of my motivation to do it, but when I had that motivation it was to see if I could make the people viewing the video slap themselves silly with laughter, you know I'd be anticipating the comments in the hopes that even more people would be like ROFLLMAOOMGTHATWASSOFREAKINGFUNNYAAAAHHHH!!!!!!!!!! When I would do music videos I was trying to make them so incredibly cool and fun and catchy people would be like "dear God this is like my favorite song EVER" (don't think I ever got that comment but I got some pretty great reactions regardless)

So I guess for me it's more about... wowing people with my art. Since it's been so slow and I feel like I dropped the ball on my channel however I'm not near as motivated. But I do have a plan to fix that after my album is complete.
 
I have met many awesome people on YouTube whom I have been close friends with on Skype and YT, some I have been friends with for 2 years.

Also YTTalk (I wouldn't of found without YT) has found me some great friends.

If you do YouTube for the money then that's great, I don't see the problem. It's their to be used, use it if they want.

My only problem is when there's no love of the artistry involved. I have seen QUITE a few channels that you can clearly tell do not care about making quality material but rather jump on all the trends just to get views and then promote their channels like crazy and just... you can just tell their motivation is 100 percent dollar signs and that is when I find the money making mindset messed up. But if you actually have a talent, or actually try to provide a service, and then try to use that talent to make income on youtube that doesn't bother me at all.

I mean like I have alot of respect for Toby Turner regardless of what his videos are like now andwhat some people say about him. He has his own sense of humor and he knew how to utilize both worlds to get where he is. I thought his literal movie trailer idea was genius, it's unique, it's funny, it shows his talent in music and comedy, and you can literally do it with every single movie coming out before it comes out. That's a perfect way to creatively get yourself out there, those are the kind of ideas I'd love to come out with.

Yeah, I agree, I make videos because I feel free to act like myself and that people will enjoy it at the sane time. I have made some friends along the way. But I really do hate that a lot of you tubers are doing it for the money.
