Using Trailers and Gameplay Footage for News Feature

So we used to do podcasts on YouTube where we had gameplay and trailers accompany the discussion to help make them more visual.

We knew going into them that we wasn't go to monetise the podcasts.

But I'm curious about something.

We are now planning to replace the podcasts with two 10 minute news recaps a week where will again be using trailers and gameplay footage while we host the news.

I understand that certain YouTube partnerships like Machinima make monetising these videos possible and I wanted to see if anyone can enlighten me.

We don't really care about monetising these news recaps as we see them as gateway videos but I was curious.

Depends on the use, if it's kept short and educational then it should be ok but I'm pretty sure you'll be slapped with claims against the video since Content ID is automatic.

We wouldn't be showing entire clips just snippets while we talk about it.

Inside Gaming Daily are a great example of this kind of presenting. I know they're partnered with Machinima who are able to monetise this sort of content.

I'm not bothered if they can be monetised or not, it would just be a nice bonus.
