Using Personal Instagram for YouTube?

I currently do not have an Instagram for my channel, but I really want to create one. My username on almost every social network is devinmlandis, but on Instagram my personal account that is private has that username. I am curious as to whether I should create a new Instagram with a new name that is inconsistent, or just make my private Instagram public. My only concern with going that route is that I follow a lot of people from my school and I really don't want random people showing up at my school. Thanks in advance for your opinions!
 
Make a Instagram account that's for Youtube only because you don't people to know about your personal life
 
Depends how open you want to be to your subscribers. If you do't want 'em knowing much, then don't let them follow your private account. If you do, then let them go ahead.

Alternatively, use the same name for both accounts except add an underscore _ to the end of one of them (usually your private one), so they can still find you with the same name :)
 
I'm pretty connected with my personal life and my channel, so I use my personal Instagram for my channel, as well. I'm not going to be a Brand Ambassador for any company anytime soon, so I don't mind if my viewers see pictures of my cat or what I had for dinner as well as my video announcements.

Plus, it's difficult to come up with content for two Instagram accounts, I'd think.
 
People are nuts. I would be hesitant to share anything personal that could be used against you in the future. That's just me.
 
I say don't do it, but only if it links to your other social media. If you plan on using it there's no problem if it doesn't link to anything confidential.

I say this because somehow in hell, a fan found my personal snapchat, Facebook, twitter, Skype, everything, because one of my friends commented #Rails2Revolution as banter on one of my instagram photos. Biggest pain in the world was trying to get rid of the fan in the most polite way possible while at the same time ignoring the fact that they were commenting on my oldest Facebook photos and screenshotting my snap stories.
 
I am linked to my personal instagram currently but i don't really use that to promote my youtube at all, i just post photos from my life on there, the only thing that may be used against me in the future is my pole fitness photos, i have left my school and all that and i can't see me becoming famous during my last year at uni so i'm hoping i will be okay, this thread has made me slightly paranoid though haha.. Basically just be careful what you post or just make another account, i'm tempted too but tbh it would just be effort to find things to post on both. One thing I don't give out is my personal facebook and snapchat, i may make a facebook page and create another snapchat just for my youtube fans if i ever became successful enough, but i like to keep them private as i have a lot of personal information on my facebook (it's all completely private however) and my snapchat is kinda the same with things i snap, i am fully aware that friends who can see these things could use all this against me and leak it all or something though

Yea that is what I was thinking, the only problem is that I want my social media to be consistent and I have no idea what to rename my personal Instagram if I do make a YouTube one.[DOUBLEPOST=1466806589,1466806551][/DOUBLEPOST]

I want to be as personal as possible, but not having them know exactly were I go to school. And that is a great idea, thank you![DOUBLEPOST=1466806650][/DOUBLEPOST]

I vlog as well the only thing is that I don't want my viewers knowing exactly where I live and go to school, since I follow a lot of people from my school.[DOUBLEPOST=1466806730][/DOUBLEPOST]

I use my personal instagram since I'm just a teeny tiny let's player, but if you feel like your channel might blow up or you have a lot of subs, then I would probably use an instagram account solely for the channel you have. It could feel like your personal one anyway, but with a little more safety lol
