Using Facebook for getting some subscribers

Posting Mad!
I tried this method a few times and it seem to work. I post the video on my facebook page and boosted the post with 5$. On a vid I got +10 subscribers and about 400 new views.

This depends on the vid and the target though. When I targeted my country I got more subscribers than when I targeted an international audience. You need to test and see what works and what doesn't.

Good luck !

Wouldn't it just be easier not to pay for it and get your friends to share it?
Not everyone has helpful friends though lol Last time I messaged like 30-40 people to share the channel around to get feedback and stuff, all they did was subscribe -.- which doesn't overly help when they don't watch the stuff lol People need to get over this fantasy world where they think you "just get found". Now days you need to get yourself out there via other platforms and means.

@op this method may or may not work for a lot of people though. It depends on the content too. I've heard bad things about advertising with FB but I guess it can't hurt to try.

I find Twitter more useful.

This way you can "follow" the "followers" of Twitter accounts, that host a YouTube channel similar to yours.

This increases the chances of you finding your ideal target audience.

Plus there are many more shares (retweets) on twitter than facebook.

This ad is the same thing though, people wil sub put most likely not watch you're content so it's a waste of time.

That can happen anyways, it's something that can always happen on YouTube regardless of the methods you choose to expose yourself with, but advertising is better than not doing anything at all and increases your chances of finding active subs or gaining views or even followers on the page. This also depends on your friends too. If you can rely on your friends then of course go for it, I mean it's a free method, it's only logical to choose that method if it saves you money, but if you can't (like me) then you're not going to get very far just sitting their waiting for stuff to happen.

I know a lot of people through gaming communities that watch my videos and most of them are some of my best friends, Only a few of my IRL friends watch my videos as I don't trust the rest of them and I would prefer for my videos not to be a place for them to bully me.

Yeah, I've generally become good at detaching myself from people so any hint of negativity towards me or my channel from them is enough for me to stop talking to them, or continue talking to them and letting them think I still consider them a friend :P I have no doubts that if I ever start getting noticed more that some of the people who know who I look like would be more than happy to try and ruin it by trying to reveal my identity, not that it overly matters as much and I don't have high hopes that I'll reach that point on YouTube. But I'll tackle that hurdle if it ever comes along. For now, since I can't rely on friends or my current viewers as much I have to find other means. Retention is the biggest part to ranking but that alone won't help if you don't have the subbase to help boost it. I've been learning hashtags more lately to add long with uploads to help boost. They don't work too much but I still have to find the right way to tag and engage people. Doesn't help when I prefer AAA games over Indie too. I might try the FB advertising but no more than a $1-$5. @sorinvoiculescutv should write up a tutorial. lol

I find this method intrusive and annoying for both me and the people I follow as I don't want to follow too many people. On Tumblr I'm following more than 3k people and have around 700-800 followers but now I'm following 3k people lol that's a problem as I can't find the posts I really want. Although it does kind of make for some amusing browsing, I know I can unfollow everyone but it would be kind of rude. :S

Yes it would be, but the impact on boosting your posts will make more and more people to discover your channel. I can ask a few friends now and than to share my content but I can't do that every time cause I don't like annoying people. For me the best way to promote my channel is this.

This seems to be a good idea too. :)

Interesting, I've tried this before but it didn't have nearly as much impact. Would you mind sharing some of the settings you used? (Target market, interests, etc.) Thx :)
