Using Adobe Premiere over FCPX or iMovie

I started off with Premiere Elements 8 way back several years ago. I've stuck with it ever since, and last year, I got CS5.5. I am definitely a Premiere Pro fan. It does have a learning curve, but not really a bad one. Just remember to ALWAYS save your work at least once every 2-5 minutes depending on how much editing you are doing and how fast you are editing. The auto-save is not reliable. This goes for any editing program. There are some really great tutorials on YT on how to use Premiere. Learn colour correction. It is a great tool! But always try to make sure your lighting, white balance, and other settings are taken care of on your camera prior to editing. This will save you a lot of headaches and re-shoots. Editing tools are great, and Premiere is pretty much the best, but even the best software can't fix everything that could have been prevented with proper lighting, white balance, etc.

If you're experiencing lag issues, switching to Premiere might not help. FCPX is fairly lightweight, comparatively speaking. Have you maxed out your RAM?

I have a 2.2 Ghz Intel Core 17 and 8GB of RAM. Do you think I'll be okay using Premiere?

I love Premiere, because of how fully featured it is, and how it integrates with the rest of the Adobe suite, so you have the option of going between it and After Effects through dynamic link, Audition, Photoshop, and SpeedGrade, depending on what you're doing. When you're on a tight deadline, that is a huge blessing.

I'd also go for 16GB RAM to be honest.
Personally I love using FCPX, so simple and easy to use for general YouTube videos, and more complex projects as well!
