I started off with Premiere Elements 8 way back several years ago. I've stuck with it ever since, and last year, I got CS5.5. I am definitely a Premiere Pro fan. It does have a learning curve, but not really a bad one. Just remember to ALWAYS save your work at least once every 2-5 minutes depending on how much editing you are doing and how fast you are editing. The auto-save is not reliable. This goes for any editing program. There are some really great tutorials on YT on how to use Premiere. Learn colour correction. It is a great tool! But always try to make sure your lighting, white balance, and other settings are taken care of on your camera prior to editing. This will save you a lot of headaches and re-shoots. Editing tools are great, and Premiere is pretty much the best, but even the best software can't fix everything that could have been prevented with proper lighting, white balance, etc.
