Using adobe after effects.

Yeah same I use vegas for editing and only use after effects for.. well.... effects. It took me about a week to learn how to use it roughly but there are soooo many things you can do with the program that the skill cap for it is huge, you will prob never use even a tenth of the stuff in that program[DOUBLEPOST=1369660284,1369660240][/DOUBLEPOST]also i'd check out bakers tuts on yt for some cool effects tutorials

Cheers for the advice man, will check him out
For me, Adobe after effects is really hard to use due to the many commands that you can enter and you want to use just one.
*gulp*

I've only had it for some time and right now I can make just pretty simple intros and outros but then again, I don't search for tutorials on how to use it much because right now I have what I wanted which is being able to make some kind of intros/outros.

Well im about to download after effects:
1) How long did it take you to learn after effects and how steep is the learning curve?
2)Do you recommend any youtube tutorials to help me get the gist of it when it is downloaded

1) Maybe it's because I'm a dumb dumb, but steep as hell haha. I'm still learning how to use 3D space and tracking correctly. But I love challenges so I'm working with other local youtubers on how to mimic their special effects.

2) One of the local guys I'm meeting up with recommended http://www.videocopilot.net/ for tutorials and stock footage. His stuff is awesome so I would think that's a good place to start.

The basics, not too long. Becoming really good and proficient is a different story. By this I mean, if you can imagine it, you can just open up AE and do it. Well it's been a few years and I'm still not there yet.

Pretty much any of the popular ones will do.

Heres a tip: When you get a bit more into AE see if you can find a way to get some animations or plug-ins that will take most of the leg work out of what you wanna do. Red Giant make some of the more popular ones, including the very popular Trapcode Particular, and they are seriously excellent - but expensive.
I was very lucky that the CEO reached out to me regarding a minor matter that I helped their company with and he gave me the pick of anything off the site.
