Use Comments To Get Traffic.

I usually only comment if it's stuff I really like :) or if I have suggestions, otherwise I skip it ^^

How to get traffic to your videos through your videos.

DO
  • comment on a video 'relevant' to your channel. if you are commenting because you want to that's fine, comment on what you like but if you are commenting looking for views I would recommend commenting on 'relevant' videos. For example if you have a gaming channel comment on gaming videos.
  • keep it funny and/or relevant. there is nothing worse then youtube spam of people asking others to go to their channels. keep it relevant to the video and try to make it funny.
  • aim to be about a sentence long. no one will bother clicking through to you if you just commeny 'lol' say something more interesting about the video and people will see you as interesting and want to see your content.
  • reply to people. look at the comments in the video. got something interesting to say on it. reply and maybe get a convo going. the person you are chatting with may want to sub and otheres wil;l see you as cool.
DON'T
  • spam. have you ever got spam? did you hate it? dont do it to others.
  • dont say check out my channel. everyone says that and guess what, no one looks at them!

I follow these rules I it has benefited my channel.
Also if people comment on mine with good comments I do tend to look at their stuff.
OMG! I totally did all of this with my old account. I should probably do it again with this one I have now. I remember getting into debates with fellow wrestling fans over our opinions being different, and getting absolutely attacked with words because I said I find Tyson Kidd to be rather boring. Oh wrestling fans, gotta love em. :x

Good guide though, overall. I should start writing some of these things myself.

I should write guides.
"If you want to actually get subscribers who watch you video, don't be like me and actually make videos."

LOL! :D

At least you don't have like, year long gaps or anything that big. Plus, if you factor in the fact that we're in school all week, it's more than reasonable to be late sometimes. :)

Haha I haven't been making videos for long enough to have that kind of break.

I do this occasionaly to traffic some people to my channel .. but because of this new google+ update, my old school friend has subscribed to me. HOW EMBARRASSING

i havent told anyone about my yt yet... and they say they found me through the "you might know" in google+

I HATE GOOGLE + hahaa

I think once you decide to do a YouTube channel you really need to throw the worry of someone you know finding your channel out the window... After all you're deciding to put yourself in the public domain.
