Uploading format

Erm... I've uploaded all of my past videos in WMV or whatever it is you get from Windows Movie Maker. I just always assumed the bad quality upload was because of the bad quality camera. Didn't know files and such had different effects on the quality. O_O

The more you know...
wmv is fine. My videos are exoorted as such and they turned out alright.

I was legit thinking I've been doing something wrong since 2010. I should take into account that I've never had an HD cam, so that's mostly the reason for the cringe worthy quality almost 4 years later. XD

Oh I'm pumped for this return!

I think your phone might have an HD camera. You can make a tripod out of a cup if it is.

Ah man, I wish. It's a very low quality camera. Even in a mix of sunlight and house light, pictures still come out grainy. It does have one good point though, awesome sound quality.

I also love your kinda ghetto tripod idea. I'm totally gonna do that. :D <3 Cups.

Yeah my phone is the same way. But the videos it takes are pretty damn terrific.

And I love little tricks like that. They're great!

You may just want to ditch .mov and go with an .mp4 container, if possible. I don't know what iMovie is capable of nowadays, but I can't imagine it wouldn't do an h.264 codec with an .mp4 file type.

Hi Sophia

What camera do u have?
R u shooting your footage in HD?
Try shooting your footage with DSLR cameras (eg Canon 600D ~ $500)
Then I use Adobe Media Encoder to change the format to F4V files
This format is not big ~200MB but the sound & visual quality is terrific.
I'd suggest Premiere Pro for video editing & After Effects for VFX...these programs will give you a lot more room to work with.

I use Movie Edit Pro for my video editing. I upload to YT directly from the program and never have any issues.

I've uploaded in most popular formats and overall I think MP4 works best for sharpness.

I've also uploaded full and reduced files to see how YT handles them, and after YT processing there is no noticable difference in viewing quality.

So best method is to reduce file size (by about 50%) and then upload.

Cheers

Rob
