Upload Times/Schedule

I have been pondering this for a long time regarding Youtube schedule. I know the audiences of many Youtubers vary, but how does one determine what days and times to upload their vids. I've looked at the analytics, but am still a little uncertain on determining the best times. If possible I would like to know how you all have gained the feel for the upload schedule?

It's all really about picking a day(s) that works best for you. You can look at your analytics to try to get an understanding of what days seem to do better, though it's hard because generally whatever day you upload will do better :giggle:

I upload every Friday. I just chose Friday, and went with it.

My network (Fullscreen) has tools that give you a better details on which day is best to upload. I believe mine is Friday or Saturday. I can't really remember.

alright that's cool man that Fullscreen has that type of interface. I on the other hand have to figure it out. Is it best to upload as much as possible or a few times a week so you have your viewers/fans anticipating your next vid?

It all depends on the type of videos the channel makes. A gaming channel should aim for close to daily as possible. I suggest not uploading more than 7 videos a week though.

I agree with the above. Just pick a day and go with it. Or upload very similar videos every day for a month and do the math (which is hard and boring)

You can actually link your YouTube with Google Analytics. Go here http://www.google.com/analytics/

And fill out the information accordingly, and where it says website, place your channel url. Once it's linked, give it about a week to gather data, come back, and see what days were best for you.

There are a lot of variables with that, though. You'd have to upload every day, and the content would have to be very similar in appeal value. For example, you might upload a more entertaining video on Monday, or more audience-relevant content on Friday, and Analytics would show you that they were the best days, even though they would have been (potentially) as successful on any other day of the week.

You'd have to be consistent with your videos, but not everyday. As for the "more entertaining videos" those will be hit or miss just like anything anyone uploads, you can't base it on that. It calculates so much more than just the normal analytics you get from YouTube. In fact, you can compare and contrast the two, and optimize which days would be the best for you to upload on.

@Tim Schmoyer talks about it in this video here

I was just offering some reasons why it's almost impossible to figure out what "the best day to upload" is.

As far as I can tell, the answer to the question is "The same day. Every week". Regular scheduled content works better than random, sporadic content, regardless of the specifics.
