it just depends on the channel man i make advice videos so my upload rate probably wont be as high as compared to say you (a gaming channel) because generally they can be produced much quicker and require less planning. Theres not a certain number or frequency just have to use what works for you.

I think it does have something to do with what type of videos you are uploading and how many people come back to watch you're channel. I'm relatively new to YouTube and I'm uploading three times a week at the moment, Mondays Wednesday and Friday. That gives time for new people to come and watch my stuff and gives time for the people who already watch my stuff to enjoy each video. At least that's what I've noticed with my videos

Well, most of my views don't come from subscribers, and most of my subscribers don't watch most of my videos, so I'm not sure how that affects it.

Maximum of once a day, but anything under that will be fine. Just be consistent.

Off and on I've contemplated how often I should upload. The nature of my channel is one where I could upload every day, but I like giving some space between uploads to allow each video to be featured.

I'm currently putting out 3 videos a week (Mon, Wed, Fri), but at that rate, I have videos uploaded and scheduled all the way until the end of this year. Most of my videos are requests by viewers, and they have expressed displeasure at their requests being so far in the future.

Besides wanting to allow each video to be featured for a long enough time to get exposure, I also want to be able to have a break if I need to without having a gap in my publish schedule.

What are the pros and cons of uploading daily or even every weekday compared to my current 3-per-week schedule? Is there a downside to uploading too often?

EDIT: I just counted up how often I actually upload videos per week (not published, just got them ready to be scheduled to be published) from the beginning of the year and while some had 0 uploads, some only 1, and some 12 or more, I averaged 6.6 per week.

Wow!! This is excellent! Unfortunately, I don't have the answer to your question about uploading too frequently because I've never uploaded more than 1-2x per week. That being said though... do you find that your frequent 3x per week uploads contributed to the growth of your channel? What else did you do to get 11K subscriber (which is SUPER AMAZING!! ).

Most of my subscribers came from one gateway video and the growth has been at the same steady rate since then, seemingly no matter what I do. I think at this point my main concern with frequency is putting out videos at a rate to keep up with the number of requests I get.

A gateway video is one that gets a lot of views and is the way most visitors to your channel find it. It's not exactly something you can control. One of my videos just became a suggested video on another really popular one and brought a lot of people to my channel. It wasn't something I planned. If you go to my channel, you'll see the "Let It Go" one that has a lot more views than any of the others.
