Hmmm.... I guess that makes all of us newer folks too late to the YT verification checkmark party? 
If anything, I think this shows how much of a push YouTube wants to get more famous mainstream people on the platform with "legit" checkmarks, and push off all the home-grown creators into some weird corner of YouTube...
