Thanks everyone. At first, I didn't think the silver play button was such a big deal, but it is pretty awesome to know that over 100,000 people from all over the world have liked my content enough to subscribe ^^
Thanks, yeah, the first 20 seconds of a video is so critical. People are really impatient.
For twitter, I've made one quality tweet (non-promotional) per day for the past 2 years. And once a week, I tweet about one of my videos. That weekly tweet about my video gets so much more respect because of all my other non-promotional tweets. I now get people asking me to link to my videos, playlists etc. Like I said, it takes a long time to build up that reputation, but once you have it, it really makes twitter a very powerful tool. I can now post a link to an article on my website from twitter, and on my realtime website analytics, I immediately see a huge surge of traffic on my site.
The problem with twitter is people are always too impatient (like on YouTube). They immediately want loads of followers so they use bots or do follow4follow to quickly get a few thousand followers, but they're kidding themselves if they think they are now an authority.
Yeah, I'll post a photo when I get the play button. It's actually a 3rd party company in the US who ship them out worldwide and they've given me a link to track it.
I hit 100k subs in the middle of August and I got the notification that it was all approved and audited the 17th September. (I'm now at 108,000). I nearly missed the notification. It wasn't on top of my dashboard, I had to open all the notifications to find it.

CONGRATS! That is sooooo wonderful! Also I am glad I got confermation on the no intro thing. I have been trying latly to go without one, and just have an outro. Personally I figure they can know who they can easily tell who they are watching without me putting an intro on the video. Plus it kind of might make some people be like nah I don't wanna wait for the intro to be done. I have been trying out doing twitter better kind of the way you said. BUT YAY! Maybe you can post a pic of your play button to us when you get it

How long did it take you after you hit 100k to get the notification in your dashboard for the play button? If you don't know, how long ago did you hit 100k?

Yeah, YouTube's algorithm has definitely found me! It's interesting you mention that - A few months ago, I had a new subscriber leave a comment on one of my videos saying he had found me because nearly everywhere he went on YouTube, he saw my videos or channel via search, suggested videos and on his homepage suggestion list. It certainly wasn't like that when I first started when I was struggling. So it's proof that YouTube does eventually promote channels as they grow.
It has! I was hesitant about joining the whole "no promotion movement" but now that you've confirmed that it works...... *closes all social media sites*
In any way, quality content is key and you have that!
