Unfollowers....not so dissappointing

I've been thinking about why some of my subscribers have unfollowed me in the past and I thought maybe it's my content.....but then again I've also been gaining subscribers so it doesn't fully make sense.

Then I decided to look closer to some of my subscribers and would notice that about 20% of my subscribers are people who also have a small channel and I guess they were trying to do a sub4sub and thought I would simply add them just because they subbed me. So I came to the conclusion that most of my unsubscribers are people like that, who just assumed I would sub back. I'm sure there's probably 5-10% who unsubscribe because of my content, but I wouldn't be surprised if most of them are just trying to get subs back.

At least that's what I tell myself when I see an unsubscriber because my content hasn't changed much and I continue to try to improve each video...

Okay that's my rant for the day lol
 
I believe that some of my unsubscribers also do the same, but there are a few of those people that consistently sub and unsub. I see what specific people because of the emails I get. It could be because they want sub 4 sub or just because they don't like my content. I'll go with the first option.
 
I have seen this as well. And i think you are right, some people are trying to do an sub 4 sub thing. It's a pitty, I wish they wouldn't do that because it benefits no one. But as long as the general trend of your channel is upwards then there are people subscribing to you who are genuinly interested in your content. When you see a significant drop in subs just after releasing a new video than that is a clear sign of active subscribers who didn't like your content. As long as you don't see that happening, i wouldn't worry.
 
Yea It was the same with me as well :p
I stopped posting videos for about a month..and during that period i lost abt 9 subscribers in the first half of the month..but at the end of the month i gained about 12 subs without doing anything :p
well, it was good for me but it was strange :D
 
It's a trend haha small youtube channels who do the sub4sub constantly are annoying as hell! ><
They sub then unsub when I don't sub back, THEN they give my vid they commented on a thumbs down because I didn't sub & because I told them I don't do sub4sub :confused:

Unsubs don't bother me since people who sub to my channel seem to be a nice flow lately :)

I earn about 2 subscribers or more per day. I often lose several per week. I think OP is right. I do see a trend of smaller channels subbing me and leaving when I dont subscribe back. I have never subbed to someone just to get a sub from them. I don't understand that. I do sub my friends even if I dont like their content but thats because I love them. :)

also i have noticed this too and came to the same conclusion. although i do often sub back (to small youtubers), because i feel like we're all in this together (cue HSM!) and maybe they will have content i like :P
