Understanding Reddit and video posting?

Okay so I kind of only recently started learning more and more about Reddit, by that I mean only a few weeks ago I found out it wasn't a p**n site and only a few days ago did I decide to make an account. I've heard that people use it to post some of their videos for a bit of extra exposure which I think is pretty nifty, but I've also heard some people say that you can get dislike bombed? Why does that happen? Is there specific videos or ways you need to post? If I posted a video from my GTA IV playthrough (a specific 1 that I find more amusing than the others) what risks are there if any?

I am the same, I hear about so many people who get viewers from posting their videos to reddit, which I posted mine and it got no responses at all!

Generally no downside but at the same time not much chance of an upside.

Risk of "dislike bomb" is not an issue. You won't get dislike bombed. And if you do it doesn't matter, except for hurting your feelings. I've seen this idea around a few times on yttalk, and as a long time redditor (my account is over 3 years old) I find it hilariously misinformed and amusingly wrong.

Generally reddit is very anti-self-spam. No blog spam, vid spam, etc. If you post content, do it because the community you are posting it to wants to see. This means just "posting your videos to reddit" will be a waste of your time. If you bother to figure out what the given reddit community wants to see, sure, it can be a huge amount of traffic. But that means you're tailoring your content to perhaps a different audience than you're used to which most of yttalk doesn't seem to understand.

TL;DR: Your content on reddit will probably flop and its just a waste of your time. No bigger downside than that.

Okay lol Well I've noticed that some people post glitches and amusing videos, so I decided to post a glitch my mate stumbled on, I don't think anyone has yet to experience that glitch either because I've tried searching for it. I guess it is a waste of time but can't hurt to see what happens.

Ive never had much joy posting on reddit and havent done it with any of our Gta videos yet, might give it a go but am sure it will be like last time,No joy!

Reddit isnt scary, I understand why people are afraid, i was too, but if your video is above average, it will do fine on reddit. If your video is "s**t" ( sorry for language) then it's going to get disliked bomb'd. Are you proud of your video? Would you show it to the president/political leader? screw that, would you pull your grandmother away from her championship bingo game to show her this video? If the answer is no, then dont upload it, if the answer is yes, then shame on you, ur grandma is only missing 3 squares, leave her alone.

Don't post to r/games or anything post it to your particular niche for people that will want to see your videos. e.g. I post it to the subreddit for the game I play. Also don't post crap low quality videos.

Generally, the people of reddit have seen most stuff, and your video needs to be quite spectacular to be noticed. especially if its within a game like GTA. They generally have a really short attentionspan, and to keep them interested, you need to put some good work into your stuff..

I will say though, that I managed to get a video from 10 views to 750 in one day only due to Reddit. Not a well made video, but pretty decent content the video was showing.

Yeah I posted on r/gta (I'm finally understanding why people put r/ in comments now xD) since there wasn't a gta iv subreddit sadly. Kind of annoying though that they have r/gtav and people still post gta v stuff in r/gta lol
