"Unable to Monetize Due to Reuse"

Surely you can use music you have licenses for without being punished for it these days? Smells like something is off right there. Why do they have the creator studio audio library if it is going to cause people problems with reuse? I dont believe any of this can be right, if it is, then what a massive facepalm and a half YT is turning into.

I fully agree, Michael.

What seems to have happened is that YouTube has now adopted the Adsense Content Quality Guidelines; which means that nothing which cannot be considered "unique and original content" is going to be accepted for monetization. So unless you are going out with a camera or sitting in front of one filming yourself, you are in danger of not being accepted for monetization. If you are already monetized, you stand to lose your monetization and be kicked out of the YPP.

I'm facing this danger with my own channel. I back both my hypnosis sessions and my original ambient music compositions with stock footage visuals. Will let everyone know how long I last, as I have no intention of changing my workflow to suit this new mess.

If I end up demonetized for "reuse", all of my channels will go static as they now stand, and I will find another platform to be my main outlet, monetized or not.

"unique and original content"

in fact, in native language trending page I receive more and more commercial English songs rather than Greek vloggers as in older times.

Following your two part Medium article, it was a surprise to find another one, dealing how Advertisers are actually (might) avoiding Youtubers any more...

If that happens YouTube will lose so many channels again, look at the state of YTtalk, it used to have so many people online all the time asking about YT and enjoying it, looking forward to a bright future on there and now its nothing like it was, people struggle to monetise and then fear losing it and not because of doing something terribly wrong. I hate seeing it like this but it is obvious YouTube is starving new creators of opportunity. I really struggle to see any on there any more with all this red tape and finicky guidelines. They are becoming quite the joke and people are scared to upload anything for fear of offending the AI and "manual reviewers".

I totally agree with this. As a new creator I'm quite scared of uploading something I should not since I will get reviewed again (my content hasn't changed since they reviewed it the first time) but it feels like today they are ok with it, but tomorrow they will change the rules again. I don't have any problem with music cause I pay a license but sometimes I use an image or a meme for a couple of seconds. I need to start changing my content so I created my own memes hoping I will be able to have one problem less to worry about. Article 13 can make everything worse and I would be even more scare of uploading, or probably Youtube will block my whole channel cause of an old meme. It's really sad achieving your milestones and see everything went to waste cause of these kind of problems.
