"Unable to Monetize Due to Reuse"

Boki

I've Got It
Hello peeps.
Today I got the mail that my monetization isn't approved die to reuse.
Of course, as a lot of you know, YouTube doesn't give out more specific details, so I was wondering if any of you could take a look at my channel and give me some feedback (channel in signature).

Some comments:

- In general, the music is original to the channel (obtained written license), or under Creative Commons license;
- Would the reading of Biblical texts (even if followed by original illustrations, as is the case with my channel) be considered reuse? The translation I use permits the use of the quotations.
- Would the reading of other books, for which I obtained the permission from both the translator and the copyright holder, be considered reuse?
- Four (I believe) videos contain copyrighted music that is connected with their creators (that is, they do get revenue out of it). Would this impact monetization?

Final question - where do I indicate all the permissions? In the description?
Thank you for your answers in advance. :)

Just saw your thread on the official forum but will answer you here for expediency. You didn't create the music yourself; so YouTube considers this reuse.

Yes this would also be considered reuse.

- Would the reading of other books, for which I obtained the permission from both the translator and the copyright holder, be considered reuse?
Yes.

Again, yes.

Final question - where do I indicate all the permissions? In the description?
Yes.

copy paste from elsewhere, perhaps giving a "good" reason...

Reused content (or Duplication)
If your channel is disabled for monetization because of duplication, it means that some of your content is identical with some other content on YouTube. This happens for example if you upload
  • public domain footage
  • royalty-free music
  • videos other people made (reuploads)
  • compilations
  • anything that got claimed by ContentID
  • reading outs of stories posted on other websites
  • recordings of live concerts, DVDs, TV shows, and other copyright infringing activity
  • unedited, uncommentated gameplay videos*

So wait, this essentially means that I shouldn't use music at all on my channel except the one that I created solely by myself, even if I commissioned it specifically for my channel and the authors specifically said that it can be used for YT videos?
I literally have no idea how any channels get monetized.

reading outs of stories posted on other websites
This is a bit of a gray area for me, because my channel isn't just plain reading of those stories. :) But yeah, I can see why that would be a problem.

Was the music in question, actually composed specifically for your channel? I need you to explain your use of the word "commissioned"; as if you simply licensed an existing piece of RF music to use in your videos, there is nothing to stop other creators from licensing the same piece, causing it to appear multiple times on the site.

So yes, it would be better to use music created solely by yourself.

Can you give more information regarding this? Do you have many videos with claims from third parties? What happens when you go to youtube.com/my_videos_copyright?o=U
?

Sorry; i wasn't looking that far back!

@Boki

Tyring to confuse the issue by deceptive language isn't going to help. If it was licensed, that does not make it "original" to your channel, or anyone elses. Copyright claims will indeed affect your ability to monetize. You need to not be using copyright media of any sort if you want your application to succeed.

Yes, it was composed specifically for my site. However, in some videos, I've used music by Kevin MacLeod who stated specifically that his music can be used on YouTube videos and especially monetized videos. Whenever I've used his music, it is always background, it isn't the emphasis of the clip (ie. I didn't just put up pretty pictures to go along his music, his music is secondary to the video). That is the part that confuses me, that something that is there purely for the atmosphere (but not the essence) of the video, while still having a blanket permission.
Again, this is only assuming that using his music is problematic. For now, I'm assuming that the sole problem are the four music videos with copyrighted music (that is, not MacLeod's), three of which I've since deleted. On the fourth, I've just disputed the claim. :)
I'll see how it goes after I reapply in a month.

I didn't even know about this nifty link, thank you!
Only one video has a copyright claim (there were three more, I've deleted those). Ironically, the content ID matched it with something completely unrelated to the original material, so I've decided to dispute it. The music was not made by me but I have the written permission of the monks of the monastery who chanted the hymn to use it in the video.

actually, Youtube audio library include many of Kevin MacLeod's tracks. And i mean the official Youtube Audio Library.
So maybe this isn't really the problem? Can you point to a video of yours claimed with this kind of music? (just out of curiocity)

Offtopic (kind of cold joke...) to try making you smile @Boki
Did by any chance your channel got noticed and claimed by the Big Guy up there?
:p XD

"Your channel content has been claimed in its entirety by God.
Ads may appear on your videos.
All the revenue will be forwarded to God."

Boki: >_>

By the way, I smile all the time, but I'd prefer to smile while having YT revenue. :p
