Trends on youtube?

How important do you think it is to jump on board with popular trends on youtube? (for example draw my life was really popular, or there are a lot of different tag videos)
Do you like those kind of videos/ like doing them. Or do you think it's super boring to watch/create because everyone is doing them

no its only popular because they already have audience, you can draw your life and post it online but it will part of many many videos with the same tag.

I think it's absolutely essential to not just go after trends. You need a solid base of your own format and style. Only then you can start to profit from following trends by adding your own style to them.

Oh so you guys think it's actually the opposite of what I thought. I assumed that trends get a lot of people new subs or views.
That's interesting, glad I asked

DO NOT got after trends. I get so annoyed by tag videos and reaction videos like... where are the real creators at? I want to see what makes you unique! I've been a YouTuber for nearly a decade now and I've watched this platform change a lot and I tend to see less and less creative people. Don't be one of the trend followers, be yourself and be unique!

Not saying you shouldn't but make it your own style. The cliche ones are such a turn off for me and I wouldn't bat a second eyelid on them.

We don't just do every trend video just because it's popular, but if there is a trend that is going around that we think is a good idea, or one that we can put our own personal touch to make it funny and entertaining, some trend videos can be pretty fun to make and watch. We also notice that our more trendy videos tend to get the most views. Not saying you should copy the trend exactly, but if you make it unique and add your personality, it's okay. Also, we try to have a mix of different types of videos, and switch it up every week, and we don't think it's great to only have trend videos as your content. Trend videos can turn out good IF you put your personality into it.

Hope we helped,
Julia and Claire

Trends can be good if you jump on them as soon as they happen. That's going to when your audience is searching for that term the most.

but i do wonder, how do people research trends? especially on games. I own a gaming channel, which right now mostly focus on ios/android games, maybe sometimes MMORPG. but do people just get lucky that they stream/make videos about games that get popular?
