Traditional (old-school) annotations not showing on mobile

I wouldn't worry about it. I mean they're stupid, but they'd be on a whole new level of stupid if they just completely removed annotations from YouTube altogether. The amount of backlash they'll receive from that will be worse than the backlash they got from Google+ 10 fold because there are people out there who have thousands of videos on 1 channel alone with annotations. The easiest approach for them is to remove the option to add new annotations but allow people to edit current 1s already on their videos if they wish. When they say they want cards to do everything annotations can do, they also mean the ability to reposition cards the same way you do with annotations, so your end cards won't be effected even if they remove the ability to add new annotations as you'd just be placing a 'card' over the video or subscribe button to allow people to click them.
There was a lot of backlash after the removal of Video Responses, but they're still going strong

Lmao but that's how it already is on mobile. Have you checked your analytics? Maybe it's different for other people but with me, over 50% of my views come from mobile devices.
With me it is 70-80% pc and 20-30% mobile, so I leave it like it is. Only my semi-viral video was mostly mobile because it was embedded on some website.[DOUBLEPOST=1438176555,1438176421][/DOUBLEPOST]

But that one I understand, because that was a lot of video that gets close to no views.

True, but what about the situation we have right now? Didn't YT just announce that 50% of views come from mobile? Which means a huge amount of viewers can't click annotations. Which makes me want to add cards in addition to annotations, but that would just make the end screen overcrowded and confusing. But if I used cards only, I'd wonder whether they're as enticing to click on as annotations... :wacky2:

I agree 100%! Even the :wacky2:

Not nearly enough backlash, in fact I only know people actually being okay with it going, Video Responses were dying off and being used incorrectly to begin with and with their removal it didn't require any effort on the creators behalf to do anything, all they had to do was continue on with their channels i.e. if they remove annotations completely, people with end cards or prompts are ****** because they'll have to go and remove every single end card or/maybe prompts from their videos or it will look stupid and redundant. I've used and still do use YouTube's video editor to cut out intros and outros on my old channel's videos which has around 300+ vids, I can tell you after using it on about 5 videos you'll literally want to reconsider re-uploading every video without the end cards or punch something.

Just figured out you can do that, so thanks!! :p[DOUBLEPOST=1438177044,1438176989][/DOUBLEPOST]I'll just change my end-card script to: "if you want to see more you can click here, here or on the card on the top of the screen".

I personally don't think so, cards only show up temporarily on the screen for a few seconds, you can pick when it shows up but unlike an annotation, you can't pick the duration of a card. It's probably more ideal to have the current cards show up just before your outro starts. But I don't mind the clutter, I just assume people don't make it to the end card on my channel anyways xD

Yeah, what was it, 5 seconds with text and then it's just the little "i"? And I guess pointing to it won't work either because YT might completely change the position of the cards. But then again, maybe the cards will become more and more customizable.

Hm, anything popping up distracts the viewer so I wouldn't do that. In my case I'll have the most important part of the video right before the outro...

Right now, I'm thinking of making a card with playlist links plus the in-video-thing that shows up on every video. Is there a card with a subscribe button? I mean, the watermark is one but hardly anyone knows...

I the watermark still one? Because it used to have a subscribe button but not anymore.
(but maybe its only there for channels you are not subscribed to, which would be logical now that I think about it)
