If you do sub4sub you aren't really achieving anything, you don't get people subscribing to your videos that appreciate what you do. It should be about true fans that come back not loads of fans that don't care. I am a small youtuber with 46 subscribers but I have subscribers that will comment on my videos and give me feedback, surely that's better than 3,000 subscribers that don't care

This is true, however if you notice the big you tubers only get like 10-15% of their subscribers viewing, and it actually isn't just their subscribers because it probably made it to the front page. In other words, eventually you will have more who don't care than who do.

What I think is important at this stage of YouTube (probably 0-20k subs) is to get real subscribers but it doesn't matter how much they care. Right now it is about getting higher numbers so that more people will see you so that you can get tons of people who really care. Of course this original 20k should not be sub4sub.

aaah man, sub 4 sub is so pointless! I'd rather have ten subscribers who looked forward to my videos every week, than 100 subscribers who never came to my channel!
