Too Much Slow Motion???

Munchito696

I Love YTtalk
My girlfriend told me that her boss (who is subscribed to me) asked if all I do is slow motion dog videos lol. I do other stuff too, but he is subbed for the dogs. Now that I look back a majority of my dog videos the past year or two have been involving slow motion. I love slow motion though... Do you think there is a point where you can over do it for a dog based channel?

She also said she showed her co-workers my Twerking Panda Riding a Roomba video, they said I have too much time on my hands lol! I can see their point for that video, that's one of the weirder ones I've done.

Considering that I really enjoy the Slomo Guys - no - there can not be to much slow motion in a video :)

If there's nothing particularly interesting/funny/cool happening during the slow-mo effect I can see how it can be annoying, and would prefer if the video comes in and out of slow-mo appropriately, but in general? Slow-mo is really sweet, so if you're doing slow-mo on the right stuff you can't have too much of it.

Personally it depends what is in slow motion. For me it needs look awesome or be super interesting. So for example if water is exploding out of a balloon, it's interesting to watch it hold the shape of the balloon while it falls. Or someone doing something super impressive can look awesome in slow motion since you can see the skill they have. But yeah, you'll be able to tell when it becomes too much I thinks and since they get they most views then people still want it so keep giving it! :)

I used to use the slow motion a fair bit but after getting alot of complaints only use it in dire circumstances now and all the complaints disapeared. I do however think alot of viewers might be semi autistic though and easily bothered by slow motion :P

It depends on what the slow mo is about, as in well if the slow motion has funny things, for example the dog jumps and make a funny face in the process and stuff then the slowmo is perfect!

Like this i find it funny cause the cat is like "OMG I WANT IIIIIIIIIIIT" and it's face and stuff. I like to watch the slowmo guys because they add science to them and you can see things you wouldn't see normally so in the end there isn't enough slow mo and if you like it continue doing it :)

This is an example of some slow mo vs. real time speed comparison I did. Looking back at some of my videos I guess this is a theme I have. It has over 50k views, so I'm not complaining. I tend to combine my dogs and slow motion a lot, so I can see where the comment of too much slow motion came from... I'll just keep doing what I'm doing though lol

I'm so jealous of their cameras. For now I'll work with my GoPro Hero 4 Black, it is limited to 240FPS, but it still looks cool. If I hit the Powerball jackpot probably the first things I would have bought would have been a couple Phantom cameras.

My only criticism of that vid with the slow mo is that there is too much down time ie. 5 seconds of the dog running as a spec in the background or 5 seconds of an empty screen when the dog has left. These videos are a science and getting the timing is crucial to keeping the viewer in a trance/hypnotized, as soon as they lose focus you risk losing them.

Yeah I kinda noticed that after I uploaded it... With my newer software it transitions into slow motion better so for videos like this I'll have the subject going normal speed until it gets to the part that looks cool in slow mo and transition in. I've only made 3 videos with that software so far.... Damn this makes me want to make more videos now! I've had this software for almost a month and only used it 3 times, what a waste!
