To Laugh Track or No Laugh Track?

Hey everyone! So I just made a new video today that's inspired by the "Remote Sketches" from Conan O'Brien, which if you don't know, is basically him visiting places, trolling around, and cracking jokes about the locations and experiences and there is a laugh track present.

The video that I shot today was of me attending a Harry Potter-themed party that's shot in a similar style, but I was wondering if implementing the laugh track will be a good or bad thing. (it's basically me participating in a Harry Potter event for the first time and failing and cracking jokes)

I say if there are moments that warrant it sure, but I know if there is no reason to laugh adding a laugh track tends to make people think less of the video so be careful :)
 
Personally, I don't really like being told when to laugh. I remember (when I had time to watch TV) seeing shows with laugh tracks and thinking "why are they laughing... that wasn't funny." I'd prefer letting it happen naturally. But you can always give it a try if you plan to make this a series and see how it goes.
 
Oh god, no. Laugh tracks are a relic from terrible sitcoms decades ago, and have no place on Youtube. It's meant to give the illusion that there was a studio audience (or in Conan's case, there's an actual audience). No one has a live audience like that on Youtube. You're just going to look like an idiot IMO...
 
Conan's "laugh track" is actually his audience since those sketches are screened during tapings of the show. While we're on the subject, I've been trying to find a source for quality laugh tracks for a particular type of video series I want to do and can't find anything.

They actually still do it today. Was unfortunate enough to catch a couple of minutes of the new version of The Odd Couple on TV the other night. The show was just so not funny, and when they add a laugh track it just magnifies the fact that it is lame.

The last laugh track sitcom that I enjoyed was Rules Of Engagement.

Could you imagine how crap shows like The Office and Modern Family would be if they had a laugh track? :)

I would just use it in an ironic tone. Kinda like to make fun of something. I wouldn't use it as it was used in sitcoms decades ago.

Still a rubbish show though. They must have handed out joints to the audience before they went in :)
