Tips for editing

I just watch a lot of YouTube tutorials and am still learning. If you mess up, just keep the original video and edit until you do something you like and wouldn't mind sharing. Keep experimenting!

Youtube tutorials and understanding what you're trying to achieve with your edits, what aesthetic are you going for? Find a YouTuber who has a style that you like and practice towards that.

Can I edit for you. I am trying to build up my portfolio and am I able to do some simple editing for you?

I'm returning to Premier pro after ten years and I've forgotten about ninety percent of it. Can still do the basic cut and move though. Classic. It will be fun getting back into it. Will probably use a ton of youtube tutorial videos.

Well, I only use iMovie and I'm just a beginner at it :) Don't be scared. We all start at the beginning and we will make mistakes but that will only make us better! x

Read the Premiumbeat blog (Google it), thy have lots of great articles on video editing. The important thing, though, is to edit to your style, rather than letting fancy editing techniques define your style (ie don't see an effect and say "That looks cool, how can I get it in my video?")

If you are afraid, you will never learn. You can always set your videos to private if you don't end up loving them. Being a creator is all about learning and trying out new things. I like using voiceovers, background music, texts, slow/speed up frame. Sit down and experiment until you found your editing style!

I use Adobe Premiere Pro too. When I first started using it, it was extremely confusing. What really helped was taking the time to read the official Adobe Premiere Pro instruction book in depth. Now I find it really fun to us popups with sound effects in our videos!

Hope I helped,
Claire

You can always set a video to private if it didn't turn out how you liked. But your viewers and brands love to see how far you have progressed. Everyone starts somewhere. YouTube is a learning experience!
