[Tip] Setting Goals for Your Channel

Joel Is InstanstGS, the problem I have with setting goals for my Youtube Channel, is that I just can't make hanging the netting between the posts compelling viewing, maybe I just need to work on the script more and then I'll have a YouTube hit...

I like the idea of this, I'm doing something similar I guess.. I'm not showing my face on my channel (someon else on my channel did not me) untill I get 100 subs, so people will only be like "Oh damn, wtf" after like 100 subs if I ever get to it, main thing I'm doing is never giving up :).
That's very cool, because not only is it intriguing but it also happens to be a goal I have as well. Hitting 100 subs would be very cool, and I would feel that a very good thing to do at that point (if you haven't done so already) is to show your face on your channel. Good luck to you, and continue to set goals for yourself. Motivation can be a very powerful thing.

but the problem is this (also in my case): its really really hard for small channels to get even 1 sub, I'm currently stuck at 22 subs and it gets me down that its not really going anywhere I mean, its been some time since I got my last subscriber

I have set goals too. I have set some low goals so that I see success sooner rather than later. I am not cheating at all. When I reach my first goal of 25 subscribers I am going to be sooooooooo happy!

We all go through slumps and what not, but the best way to look at your growth (or lack thereof) is to look at the things you should improve.
Perhaps that means getting a better microphone, putting more work into your thumbnails and titling, or adding a visual and audio cue in the BEGINNING of your videos to help people remember to subscribe. You have to also try to sound interesting, which is something a lot of small channels struggle to do, at times.

When I noticed my regular videos didn't get that many likes, I added a funny little audiovisual cue in the beginning of each video to remind people to leave a like, and guess what? A couple people listened!

Things like that are really important, and also, you have to remember that the first 11 seconds of a viewer watching your video, he or she will have decided whether or not to stay.

If you add something really interesting in the beginning, like a flash-ahead (short clip of a funny moment in that particular gameplay), then you will have them possibly wanting to see more of what you have to bring to the table.

If you take away your current intro, and instead have a flash-ahead + a short (maybe 4-5 seconds long), funny audio/visual cue reminding people to subscribe, and then you will jump right into your content.

Thanks, I'll set my goals up.

One problem is that you say no "cheating" but if you do a giveaway, you'll probably tell them to subscribe, isn't that basically "buying subs" and basically "cheating"?
