Tip Jars, 60 FPS, crediting & more! - VidCon Keynote Features Announcement

I can see the 'tip jar' becoming something a lot of smaller youtubers will spam on their videos so they can but new things like mics and such. Or just personal stuff.. a lot of people who start youtube these days just expect it to make them loads of money.

Is there a video about this presentation somewhere? YouTube doing a presentation at Vidcon... surely theres video footage somewhere?

Thanks for posting this, just stickied it :) I get the feeling theyre really trying to make sure they cover as much as they can so creators dont need to rely on external resources anywhere near as much as they have had in the past, audio libraries, crowdfunding are two things creators used to have to look elsewhere for and now they have them all under one hood, things are certainly getting more exciting. I love the new app, I am going to write an article soon about using it with links etc :)

I wish though (and this comes from of course a 100% bias opinion so take that in mind) they would work on the front page much more, in terms of discovery of smaller channels and not the 1% of youtube constantly being there.

Like you said, they are working on creators on relying on external resource not as much, and when it comes to discovery that is 100% external resources : )

I agree it would be good for them to work on that, they did recently do Fan Finder which I havent tried myself so I dont know much about it but yeah I agree more could be done to help smaller channels.

I always viewed Fan Finder "gimmicky" if that makes sense? I could see how it can be used for something like indie-journalism or something like =3 show style, but besides that it kinda is less of a solution, and more of "here is a tool for you, which may or may not work by the way".

It is hard to explain for me, but I hope you see what I mean.

For example, I think YT channels sub-forum is more of a solution than that.

Wow! These updates sounds pretty exciting. I especially like the multiple credit feature. I've always wondered if YT will ever have a co-authoring feature on videos.

This very interesting news, since I just started a Patreon in April. :P We'll see how youtube handles the tipping, since Patreon seems to be pretty down-to-earth with how they run things (especially after seeing their recent spreecast, they're great guys), youtube is... a big corporation running things, and they already take nearly half of ad revenue, so we'll see what happens.
