Thumbnail Style Ideas?!

Hey peeps! :)

I really want to come up with, and stick with, a unique thumbnail style for my videos. At the moment, I currently just make a new thumbnail for each new video & it is often totally different to the style of the thumbnail from the video before. I want to be more consistent in this area... & come up with a style of thumbnail that can be consistent to my channel & stand out. Many of the big YouTubers that I enjoy have similar thumbnails for their videos & I feel this helps their videos with views as people will immediately recognise their style in the subscription feeds.

I want to know your opinions on the best style of thumbnail to go with. I have seen some people who always include their channel name, some that are more text heavy than picture heavy, some that focus more on the graphic side of things, some with no text at all & some in black & white even!

Does anyone have any ideas of a unique thumbnail style that maybe not a lot of people are doing? Do you have a consistent thumbnail style? Text heavy vs Graphic heavy? Certain colours? Etc etc etc.

Thanks a lot for any replies.

Camermon.

I try to split mine in half. One side a bright colour with text and the other side a picture related to the video. I also have my logo on the thumbnail so they know who made it. Hope this helps.

I think You that You always need to have something to draw attention, like facial expression or something enticing to click (no click-bait tho).
Text needs to be cut to a minimum or else it will give You a big headache to fit it in and not cover the graphic part of the video.
Also I always make sure that text is readable, even on small size (I zoom out my 720p image to 25% in Photoshop to see if it's looking okay). So make sure you got some shadow or stroke below and high contrast difference between Your text and background below it.

I would say find a font that stands out and that you'll be happy sticking with and do that with a screenshot of your video. It works really well for branding.

I would just find something that stands out in the video, colour-correct it a bit and use that :D Most of my thumbnails consist of having the background slightly blurry with a colour filter on top and the characters standing out
