Thumbnail help

This might seem like a really dumb question, lol. I'm just not sure about thumbnail. I know thumbnails in videos are what get views, and that they are really important. And I also know that when you go on youtube they give you three options, for possible thumbnails, and then you pick which one you want Then below it it says Custom Thumbnail, which I might be wrong, but think that is a Screenshot. First of all, A screenshot from what?? If anyone knows, that would be great! THANKS

The custom thumbnail is for uploading a picture to use as a thumbnail. That's how tons of videos out there have thumbnails that are not directly from their video.

The Custom Thumbnail is exactly what the name suggests, custom, choose a thumbnail you want for the video. As you can see @Qazplm used a custom thumbnail on his video which is his icon and features the name of the game he's playing. though you can use what you want.
