Throwing comedy into an otherwise not so humourous YouTube channel

Hey guys, I have been considering throwing in some comedy and jokes every now and then into how to type videos but I kind of feel awkward doing so as I feel it might alienate the viewer a little as I dont normally throw in much humour. Does anyone have any experience of this? I have been writing a script today which I will be following more or less and have included some light humour and "jokey-on-ness" (not a real word no lol) would you include it even thought it feels slightly out of the ordinary for the channel or go with it because its what you want in it and you think it could be good and it would feel good including it? I know I definitely want it in there.

Any thoughts on this? Will it alienate the viewer or be beneficial including it? Am I over thinking this? Any ideas? :)

I say try one.. just see how it goes. I would enjoy it.. I like humor it adds something to the mundane. Like breaks people out of the thought then refreshes them and they get back to the subject. Someday we will ad humor to our videos too.
 
I tried something like that with my Papers, Please game review, you may get an idea of how it influences the video from it.

See thats the kind of humour and jokeyness I would like to include, just like messing on type jokes :) I think a lot of the time I am seeing humour as lightness and positive spirit, thats the only way I can describe it right now, thats what I want to add a lot of.

Im starting to think I was seeing them as jokes when really its just a positive energy and fooling around type stuff rather than straight up Knock knock type stuff :D

I say go for it, if you feel that "it could be fun to do, even though right now I am not used to it and feels awkward". Shape your content in the vision you have.

I do not know if you know this channel, but check out a channel called "That one Video Gamer", it is not to what you do, but have a look at a few of their episodes in terms how the structure it.

I will give that, sometimes they go over board with jokes and stuff, but in the end of the day, they are a review channel that has a specific gimmick, however sometimes they will a small comedic story arc to tie up a few episodes and so on. And I like the way the handle it, I think, for example the last episode they did, it did a good job of retaining the spirit of the show, as well as the actual content that is usual there, while still having this "arc" or something besides just "here is X it does Y".
