Thoughts on the Youtube mobile app?

The Youtube app has always had pretty low ratings, I never had that much of a problem with it, I mainly just dislike how it measures a thousand likes in 1k.. And I'd doesn't have the discussion or about tab. And it needs to have the notification bell. Other than that it's a solid app.. But everyone seems to just hate this app, what's your opinion on it?

I love to use the app to watch videos, Its nice and clean and great on tablets
but other then that I don't do much
the rest I do on my laptop

The app would be much better if they cleaned up the comment section. like allowing you to click through to commenters channels... but I can deal with that for now I guess.

The thing that annoys me is that whenever I try to access a YouTube page (on my iPad) it always redirects me to the App straight away!

Be it whether I want to check my analytics, edit the channel page or whatever, it always redirects me.... Quite frankly as mentioned above, pretty much the only thing that doesn't redirect me is YouTube.com/Inbox

However that said, it is great as it has built in "AirPlay" with my TV, which makes it awesome! :D

You just need to change your default settings in your iPad. This is not YouTube's fault. At least that's the way it works on my Galaxy, you can set it up to always play video through the app, or just play it through the page where the video is embedded.

There should be a desktop/mobile version of site selection somewhere.

Kind of like Cameron said, I don't like that they don't give you all the features of the youtube website. As a content producer, I want to be able to edit my video settings, change thumbnails, view analytics, etc. and have access to all the settings on the regular page which you see on your computer but you can't do any of that stuff on the mobile app or on the mobile website.

I'm fine with the app actually. I'm just waiting for that offline watching feature which they mentioned ages ago. I still can't find it in the iOS app but from what I heard it's in the Android version. Is it true? Damn, I'd love to watch all your videos while running at the gym :D
