This is Probbally a bad idea right?

Well I finally have all the stuff I need to do my DIY except the camera I only have my iphone to record so I should probably put the project on hold til I get a camera right?

I found that Close up vids with iPhone are actually pretty good! make sure you don't shake!

The secret is light - plenty of it - smartphone cameras are brilliant when they have lots of light.
If I were in your position, I'd spend the money on some softboxes or good lighting rather then a camera, and then get the camera after - the iPhone camera is excellent these days. I STILL use my iPhone in some of my videos along with my DSLR and not a single person has ever noticed where Ive switched cameras - although the iPhone just needs a better lighting setup whereas a DSLR will remain sharper even with lower light.....

Light, and knowing how to get the best setup for your camera, are vital!

Oh and grab a smartphone tripod mount as well ;)
