Well, I was talking to my co-worker who is also a musician and somehow the Jaws theme came up. I remembered my dad saying how the composer was able to create such an iconic tune from just 2 notes, and my co-worker said that it was a specific set of notes that matter. The 2 notes played after each other clash with what we naturally think music should sound like and the term is "dissonance". It can be 2 notes played after each other or played at the same time. So I read up on that part of music theory and decided to try to apply this to songs. I take the music track and duplicate it and change the pitch of the copy so that when they play at the same time, each note is a dissonant one.

Is there a specific scale, chord progression or interval that is best for creating dissonance? I'm just messing around on the acoustic trynna make a QOTSA type song, but find it hard to make it creepy and dissonant while keeping the catchiness.

I found that having them be half an octave away works best. This is also known as the devil's chord. I often slow the song down as well, since that really changes the sound, makes it creepier, and keeps it from getting in the Content-ID as much.
 
If you ever hit a plateau just rethink new ways to generate more interest, market yourself etc... Example: I hit a plateau around 260. I joined yttalk, and now I have 301, as well as started commenting in videos that are similar to my own. Hope to make it to 500! My short term goal, 1,000 by end of the year.

Engaging with other channels' audiences is what I find to be very helpful. I've always engaged with my own audience, even on channels like this one that I've all but abandoned, and even years after a video was uploaded. It's always good to engage with your own audience.

But I also spend a lot of time watching other channels' videos and commenting in the comment section. I'm not talking about promotional comments, or even commenting with the intention of it coming back to me in views, just commenting because you want to be an active part of the community. Like this site, for example. I interact here because I love to talk about this stuff. Love it. I can talk about Youtube, monetization, analytics, algorithms, strategies, etc for hours. People will tell you it's good to be in a community like this but you have to forget all that and just be a part of the community for the sake of being part of the community and for the good of the community. I can't tell you how many times I'll see an interesting comment by a Youtuber on another YT'er's video and end up visiting the commenter's channel and subbing because I liked the content. Happens all the time.

It's good to interact on Youtube in general as much as you can.
