by someone else, then having a hissy fit, fliping the table upside down, punching in a wall then jumping out the window all whilst crying hysterically... Has this ever happened to any of you?

Have any of you ever felt the same way before or even ever had the same experience?
Do you care if it has been done before? (I can see that the gamers and vloggers will not worry about this toooooo much, but for the film makers; ever worry that you might be seen as stealing ideas when you had no clue somebody else has done the exact same story/joke as you?)

See, it's pointless to fight it. I get you might get upset if you think you have an "original" idea, though that shouldn't stop you from attempting it. If it bothers you THAT much, do it differently, add your own style and twist to it! ;)
 
I'm actually working on a Portal video right now. It's been done before of course, but I plan to create my own story/visuals. It's just like movies nowadays, basically they're all remakes of older movies/books. As long as you're not copying detail for detail, people enjoy seeing multiple versions.

I've had those times where I think of a picture I want to draw or something I want to make and then either before, midway or after, I find someone else had already done it ;o; I still do it though, as LyfeWithDragons stated. I have my own style, do my own twist on it and no one has really done it /exactly/ like mine. You just gotta make it your own ;)
 
If you any idea at all chances are someone has done it already. You just have to make it new and different and somehow people give you credit. But they often give credit to the wrong people, Henry Ford didn't really invent the car, Thomas Edison didn't invent the light bulb and most important of all @auscalum was not the first to tweet the picture of "Alex From Target." What a strange world we live in. I don't get it.
 
was going to make a crash and spyro animation at some point, held it off for a long time to work on other things, another animator made shorts of them. I dont feel like I can do one now as I fear they will be too similar. My own fault for holding off haha.

(the other animations were awesome though, Im glad they made em :))
 
I agree with what you're all saying, but sometimes it's just too similar. Of course if we can work around it, we generally do put our own twist on it (just like our upcoming Christmas sketch, we found something similar last night but not exactly the same, so that's cool). But sometimes, the punchline is the same and it's like, yeah we can change it slightly but it won't be as funny to us, so we just scrap the idea and go with something else.
 
I've started making a Music Video Without Music for Lorde's song 'Royals', turns out someone has already done it, but screw 'em, I'm making mine anyway.
