Think about an idea for too long?

I've Got It
Have any of you guys ever thought about an idea for too long that it seems that it is not that great of an idea compared to when you first thought of it? Because I am getting that at the moment.

depending on the production time and resources, you should just do it and see what the result is before you doubt your idea

haha I guess. Just push forward and see what happens. Still an annoying feeling though

i always get that, but the decision to upload it or not usually comes after i film it which is a bit annoying

I do this when designing shirts. My biggest seller came to me instantly and I jotted a note down on my phone, created the design, and had my shirt online for sale within a couple hours. The shirts I have thought about the longest tend to either make me just quit in the middle or end up not selling.

I can't say I have thought too long about videos... For me I have not had to script anything for the most part so I don't have to think way too hard. A lot of the thought that goes into my videos are the angles and effects I will use, the content usually comes instantly. Mounting GoPro cameras is usually the most creative I get, so I don't take way too long. I just try to think of the coolest angle, camera settings, etc. and I am ready to shoot. Maybe I should try to do a super creative video.. My girlfriend suggested I do some kind of scenes with the dogs creating sort of a skit instead of just shooting them doing dog stuff. I'm going to start training them again soon, so maybe once they are more behaved I'll do some weird/crazy dog videos where they are doing scenes.

Oh yeah, all the time! I actually think that's part of the whole creative process, letting some ideas ferment for a little while, to see if they stick. The worst-case scenario is when you're pondering an idea for so long that someone else comes up with the same idea! Even worse is when you know they did a better job than you could have done.

I try to break the idea into smaller steps and think about what I would do first and then the idea becomes more concrete and either starts to take shape, or is abandoned, or is thrown back to ferment a bit longer.

I go through that a lot until recently I decided to jot it down and start working on it as soon as I have the time. There are small sacrifices here and there. Like using the time to work on the idea rather than playing a game or watching a movie. At the end when I've completely what I've jotted down I feel really satisfied with the accomplished work.

Sometimes or sometimes I forget to flesh it out enough and then there is just one word written down with no context and I'm more confused than overthinking it :')
