The video editing struggle

So I just uploaded a new video today. I figured I was done editing it like a week ago, but decided last night I wanted to correct some of the color.

I spend a few hours in GoPro studio editing and trying to fix the colors just for it to keep freezing while trying to export. I decide to quick try something on YouTube and I fix the problem in about two minutes.

I've done similar things before, editing a whole video in windows live movie maker, just for it to not export properly, so I have to re-edit the whole thing in the YouTube editor.

How often do you spend a lot of time on editing something just to scrap it and start fresh?

Once in college I had my project file become corrupt and had to start over from scratch.i had to stay up all night. Something my professor taught me about editing is to save and save often. Also, don't just save 1 project file. Continue to save the project file with different time stamps in case you decide a change you made wasn't to your liking. I haven't had to scrap a project in a very long time by following this advice.
