The ultimate growth technique.

I hope you're right. It can get quite demoralising putting hours into a video only to get a handful of views.

I'm generally pessimistic about it because I don't think ALL of the many people who put effort into videos can just "be lucky", but I'm glad some people are still optimistic. It gives the rest of us some hope I suppose.

You're definitely right. I haven't been making videos for very long, and although I'm a bit of a perfectionist and I'm usually pretty happy with my videos, I'm still not sure if I've got the hang of it. You never stop learning, though, and that's half the fun! :D

I disagree. I don't mean to be an a**, but TONS of people put a lot of effort into their videos, and have no success. What you're basically saying is youtube success is completely random, which is untrue. Many people can't figure out how youtube works, so they think it's random. It's not. Like everything, you can create a formula that works. You can control almost all aspects of youtube.

What formula have you found that works?

I'm not saying you're wrong btw. Just thought it'd add to the discussion to ask.

are you saying that anyone can be successful on youtube if they have the right formula then?

Yes. If you study different channels, read about youtube SEO, do your own little experiments, you'll figure out some things are FAR more powerful on youtube than others.

I'm currently starting to write a guide to youtube detailing a lot of how the whole formula works, but since it is purely philanthropic it is taking a lot longer than expected. (tip: take some of your free time you spend doing things like reading a forum, and instead analyse your video statistics, what works, what doesn't, google stuff)

1 tip I've found is views are almost meaningless in the search engine. You can have a 2000 view video and a guy with 50 views can easily outrank you. Youtube cares far more about embedded views, favorites, shares, and even how many subscribers that video gained you. Views alone are rather unimportant under say 10000.

This makes some sense to me. I am interested in your guide. I garnered a following in a time when it was easier, and I squandered it not making videos regularly and for long periods of time my channels were inactive.
