The times when your random uploads become popular.

Did you ever had it happen? That video you uploaded just for the sake of uploading something. You were thinking: "I don't want my subscribers to think I'm dead so I'll put that in". Then after a certain period of time you take a look at your analytics, and to a deep surprise - this video is amongst your most viewed ones!

Nope.
Only one intentional video became popular :P

I got 17k views on my MK8 Limited Edition unboxing, simply because I was the first one to upload it.

I did a very crappy unboxing video of my nikon 1 j2. It's not sky-rocketing but surprisingly gets a regular decent amount of views.

I was doing an unboxing of the G2 and thought I might as well make a video about how to insert the sim card, since it would only take 5 minutes to do that. I just soft released with the unboxing, and the sim card insert video went crazy, it's by far my most watched video and it's at the moment on 123k views.

This used to happen a lot back when I just made random YouTube videos and I didn't really take YouTube seriously. I wanted to become YouTube Partner, but just so I could have a banner above my channel LOL

All my uploads are in my regular format. My highest viewed video is a cars and coffee one @ 3k views. But that also took 3+ months to get there. So no, nothing out of the ordinary for my channel.

One of my first videos was a pure gameplay video (no comms) of a HL2 mod.

At the time I didn't really know what I was doing but it is by far my most viewed. It's also now the #1 video in the search ranks :)

I'm not sure if it qualifies, but I posted a vid about my thoughts on the (at the time) upcoming season 1 finale trailer of the new TMNT cartoon. Dang, that thing blew up. And like I just posted a link to the trailer in the description, I didn't actually have it in the video itself. It's over 5000 views now. And my thoughts on the upcoming season 2 finale trailer is up to 800 now. Insane. You guys love your turtles.

Despite my videos (nothing like a daily dose of self-deprecation) I've never uploaded for the sake of doing something. I know many YouTube channels just churning out unwatchable trash!

As far as surprising videos go - one specific Audiosurf music track brings in most of my channel views! Who knew? Well, you and I do now. Caring and sharing..:P

My highest viewed video on this channel is the dumbest video I've ever done.

To be fair it got tweeted by Joe Bereta.

On my other channel, where I would just upload random videos back before I was really interested in Youtube, has two videos that have managed to rack up almost a thousand views each despite zero attempts at any promotion.
SEO is a powerful thing.
I also have one unlisted video on that channel that was only meant to be shared among a dozen or so people. It's sitting at almost 500 unique views.
