Hi,

I'm new to youtube so please do not judge me hard :)

I started a new channel where I post let's play videos of my Minecraft world: The Nest and for the intro of each episode I edit footage from other games I like.

This idea might seem a bit strange and maybe it is a mistake but I like it and I wanted to try something original instead of copying what others are doing.

Please let me know what are your opinions of combining 2 unrelated games in one video.

Also please let me know what you think about the sound. I'm using the standard microphone that came with my console so there are some clicks & pops. Is it very annoying? Obviously I need a good mic but I don't want to invest to much at the start. I have made just 4 episodes. Please let me know if the sound is agreeable for now or if I definitely need a new one before recording the next ep.

Thank you for your time!

I'm looking forward to your feedback, it is very important to me because I haven't received any, so far.

I hope you will enjoy the 4th episode:

The intro is way too long. 20 seconds is already pushing it, but a minute and a half? You're going to have to cut it down drastically. Also, I was put off with the intro being from another game. It kind of confused me even though you told me it was going to be like that. There was no mention of Minecraft until a minute and a half into the video and that's enough for a ton of people to click away. If you enjoy making these cinematic things of the video game, make an entire video of it, but it doesn't do as an intro. It's way too long and unrelated. 1-3 seconds is enough for an introduction without boring the watcher.

Also, yes, the microphone needs improving. Also, it's louder on the left ear than the right so it'd be a good idea to look into it. In addition, you need to have a little more enthusiasm! You sound a little bored while you commentate.

Hope this helps, good luck on your channel!

Wow! Thanks a lot!

Your comment really helped. I'll try to improve after your suggestions!

I ordered a snowball mic :) so I'll use it the next episode. I'll also rethink the structure of my videos.

The enthusiasm part will be a bit harder but I'll work it out :)

I wasn't expecting to receive such a constructive feedback here. Thanks!

Your intro's are long, but every videos different, and its kinda cool, but your intros are crazy long, to the point where i wasnt sure what i was supposed to be watching anymore haha

Hi Mithril,

Thanks again for your advice. I need your help once more :) Can you help me, please?

I can see you are a sound expert.

I got a new mic: Blue Snowball Ice. It seems like an ok mic for an affordable budget.

I recorded another episode with it [ep5]. When I play back the video, the sound seems ok. When I edit it in FCP X, the sound is fine. After render and playback it is ok as well.

The problem is when I export it, I get clicks & pops.

I tried 2 export settings for sound:

set 1:
AAC
22 kHz
2 channels
16 bps
40 kbps

set 2: AAC, stereo 48 kHz

The result is the same. A good part of the recording is fine but about 30 % is with annoying clicks.

Do you know what can be the problem? Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks! ;)

Hmm, I don't use Final Cut Pro, but I did do a little research. Apparently It works to convert it into AIFF with sampling rate 48kHz before importing the audio file. And apparently tons of people are having the same problem....

OK, I'll try to experiment with AIFF, Thank you :*
