The Orchard Music Claims

Can't link here as don't have VIP at the moment. Can tell you both video title and song CID says it matched and you can see for yourself there is no resemblance. I am a Sound Designer and RF Library artist in my own right and I don't use other people's music without a license. The soundtrack to the video in question is my own composition.

Video Title: "Meditative Drone With Crystal Bowl and Binaural Beat"

Matched Content: "Silent Kill Megatrax" match is supposedly from 9:53 - 14:21

You just go up to Megatrax, play Silent Kill, and tell me if you hear a match for Silent Kill to my 34:08 runtime soundscape composition at that point in the video! And if it is a different asset, please tell me where to find same on the WWW, as if there is a match it will be simply similar sounding material rather than an exact match.

Also please tell me how to view an asset within Content ID as that will be a valuable weapon in and of itself.

This was a melody match and not an actual audio match. Here's what it says:

It also looks like they've deactivated the asset for Silent KillMegatrax, there's no active asset displaying so they must've caught on that it was triggering erroneous matches, but haven't released all claims. I'd contact AdRev if I were you.

It's embedded in the asset "Silent Kill-Deep East Music - T Mo"

Viewing assets in Content ID is only available to those who use Content ID unfortunately, would be good if it was open for everyone, but it isn't and probably won't ever be.

You must have one heck of an asset stack yourself then. Why do you not link your channel here as most others do? There really is no true "melody" in the Soundscape I created, and I certainly will contact AdRev.

Why people place non-exclusive assets on the fingerprint database in the first place is beyond me. The second I saw that notice I started involuntarily grinding my teeth (or my gums, as my teeth were totally removed in Sept), because I am so sick and tired of being matched to RF production music that my own has no resemblance to and that shouldn't even be in the CID in the first place! AdRev's full fingerprint set should be audited by YouTube Admin, and all non-exclusive assets deactivated. If they do it again, they should be kicked out of CID entirely, as this situation with them in particular, has been going on from the beginning of the CID program.

My own distributor will kick an artist out of his library and return all monies spent to the purchasers if one of their tracks is found to generate CID matches, and proves in addition, to have been entered as a CID fingerprint; a very fair penalty, in my opinion.

I'd prefer not to link my personal channel, just prefer to stay somewhat anonymous. I'm not a known personality or anything like that, but I do a lot of CID / MCN stuff.

I don't own a lot of assets myself, but I work inside several CMS accounts and perform day to day management and manual claiming on them. They don't belong to me, but I have a close relationship with the owners and I can add my own assets to it if I would like.

YouTube do actually deactivate a lot of problematic assets, and have shut down a number of networks who place illegitimate claims on videos. Thing is though, they don't audit the big guys like AdRev, Jukin Media, Collab etc because they have hundreds of thousands of assets and they make YouTube a lot of money. They can get away with being sloppy with their CMS use. I completely agree with what you're saying, and it's a shame there are no real consequences for false claiming. There's no clear system and they won't touch anyone that makes them a ton of money.

I can understand your wish for anonymity, and no worries there. Myself, I'm just a medium-small YouTuber trying to post my media for the cyber-world's enjoyment without being hassled. Maybe one day YT Admin will find a way to deal with rampant CID Abuse, as I've had to tell at least two asset owners who were ignorant of the facts of CID, and worse, their own YT Management team had failed to inform them, that they had placed illegal materials on the fingerprint database and needed to remove them before they got in trouble with YouTube.

Just to update, 1 of my 2 Orchard Music claims have been released. I thought it expired on the 23rd or 25th, but it is possible that it expired today. Or they could have released it manually. Hard to tell. I have 2 videos that use Barney's "I Love You" song. The second one was made with better technique and much higher quality and from a different version of the song. Both had a claim from The Orchard Music on them, and I had only disputed the newer one months ago and it got rejected. More recently, I disputed the older one and appealed the newer one. It is the older one that got released today and the newer one is still waiting on the appeal. I'm surprised they released it from a dispute because those are the most commonly rejected ones, so it probably just expired before they got to it. I knew disputing and appealing things during the holiday season would be beneficial!

Interestingly, with YouTube's new video manager, they now list what company the representative claimant is claiming the video on behalf of. For both of these videos, it now says "The Orchard Music (on behalf of HIT Entertainment)".
