Taking over the world... ...one kid at a time!
Have an idea that would improve YouTube? Wishing for an additional YouTube capability? Is there something about the interface you'd like to see added or changed? Let's list them all here! Maybe if there's enough buzz around certain features, YouTube will make some changes!
Please list the wished-for feature, describe it briefly, state the advantages, etc.
Saveable Annotations:
Who's sick of having to make those "Subscribe!" annotations every freakin' time you upload a new video? Or any other annotation that you repeatedly make, such as links, playlists, etc. God, I wish I could have that time back! Being able to create these annotations ONCE and then save them to your own YouTube library of annotations would make life easier.
Default Annotations:
Better yet, how about if you could set up a default so that the "Subscribe" annotation (or any other annotation you set up, such as playlists, links, etc.) appeared in every one of your videos as soon as it was uploaded? You could pre-set the duration, time of appearance, "during first 10 seconds" or "during last 10 seconds", etc. Much easier!
Default Playlists/Key-word playlisting:
Every time I upload a new video, I have to add it to all the proper playlists. Wouldn't it be easier if you could set defaults? If we could set specific keywords, when mentioned in the video title, it could automatically add the video to specific playlists. And shouldn't one single overall playlist be automatically created and maintained?
On-site Blogging, merchandise shopping, etc.:
Hey YouTube, every day you lose traffic when content creators (and businesses) use video to guide viewers elsewhere to go to their websites, blogs, and places where they sell merchandise. Why can't YouTube provide a tab right on your channel page for each of these things, with additional advertising space for the content creator? Not only are viewers more likely to check out content that's contained right in the YouTube channel, this is a potentially huge source of additional ad revenue for YouTube. And channel communities would be strengthened beyond just the usual "comment and respond" stuff.
More information about our viewers/subscribers:
As content creator, it would be great if I could get more information about my viewers. I know there would be privacy concerns but this could be something that people could opt out of. At the very least, they should make the list of subscribers more manageable, instead of having to page through it one page at a time.
These are just a few ideas, I'm sure as people are using YouTube they'll be able to think of more!
