The dreaded 'No Views'

If we're honest, we all want views, we created something for people to see so people should see it. Personally I work with the 10% thing when it comes to views. As long as at least 10% of my subscribers are watching, I'm cool with it. If its lower than that within 48 hours, I'd have to evaluate why. But so far, its been above that :)

All things I'm doing already. I guess this one just didn't click with people!

Maybe it is time to realize YouTube might not be the hobby for you. I am hardly the success story myself with 1.3K subscribers and 160K views in 2 years. But I had fun, and got at least a few views in the beginning. My day one videos stay up, so you can see the lack of views on some of them! I can't remember the time I did not have any views on a video. I don't think that ever happened.

Comment on YouTubers you like, and soon some will find your channel. Don't comment for the sake of commenting though, no one likes a fake.

I don't know. The whole your not suppose to do it for the fame or popularity is kinda (how can i say this with out using language) false. I believe if you have a goal to become popular, then go for it and maybe you will reach the popular statues. As for pushing out of the no views zone. I will have to go with the cliche response and say social media but i see you already did that.

1- I'm so tired of this attitude that you shouldn't be on YouTube for popularity or fame... I've followed that idea all the way until I JUST read you saying it, and as soon as I saw it it made me think... WHY NOT?? Why do we have to shame ourselves and others for wanting fame or popularity or even just a few people who like what they make??? -_- Anyway!

2- Build a twitter following and promote there. Build a facebook following and promote there. I'm sure your friends would love to see what you made! Promote videos more than once. Different people are online at different times, so people might miss the first post. But also don't be overbearing and post if 5 times in a single day. Also do throwback posts. After a month or something, post a video you really like.
I've also found that posting a video link on an unrelated forum can do wonders for attracting new audiences.

As for keeping the motivation alive... I wish I could help you :/ But I get discouraged by that same issue constantly. I'm trying to remind myself that this is something I enjoy, because it really is! I'm going to go to college for it for flip's sake! But it can be hard to feel that motivation when others don't seem interested. Just keep trying and remember it's not for them; it's for you AND them, but you first.

I agree with your number 1 point!!! I'm not on for the fame but for other reasons that people keep telling me not to!

It's not about what other's want us to do it for. It's about what we want to do it for. And as long as what we make is good and worth people's time; why should anyone care what the intention is? That's the idea I've been adopting.

Time helps a buttload, I use to be in that boat and now I am no big youtuber but I know certain people will watch and comment on most of my videos, which is a nice feeling

My remedy was to open a different browser and force my dog to watch my videos so at least I had 1 view. Needless to say my dog hated it and to this day will run to his bed when he sees a YouTube logo on a screen.
