The difference btw "Video" & "Channel" tags

each video has its own tag and that's why i am asking what is the benefit of channel tag and does it affect the search results of each video uploaded on that channel.

one more thing i would like to ask, why you tube search results through mobile handsets are different than those results through desktops?!! i noticed this two days back ?!!
as far as I'm aware, the channel tag would only help for discoverability of channels -- but not the particular videos.

Are you signed in to the same youtube account on mobile as you are through desktop? I haven't noticed a difference between results on mobile and on desktop, but I have noticed that there can be different results depending on whose account you are signed into, or if you are signed into an account at all.

channel tags are important because Your channel should appear on the search query ^^
And sometime, I use to search for channels and not videos... Am I the only one? xD[DOUBLEPOST=1450158853,1450158824][/DOUBLEPOST]You should define what are the main topics of your uploads ^^

so what is the proper way to write channel tags
and is it separated by comma or by semi-colon ( , ) or (:) or (;) ?

I place quotation marks around multi-word channel tags. I think using a comma between them will do the same thing, but when you save and revisit the page, youtube will convert it to quotation marks.

So for example, my channel tags look like:
"video game music sax covers" "saxophone music" "video game music covers" subversiveasset

for the first one i made the search while signing in with my account
and for the second one i made the search while signing out and i found different results !!

but this is somehow strange about YouTube search engine, which means we need to optimize our videos for the general search results (while signing out) ?!

Thank you very much

This function is not highly elaborated... You should write tags withour commas and for more than a word, quotation marks ^^ and then a space only =)

Thank you

well, youtube caters search results based on what it thinks users want to see. So, that explains why you get different results while signed in.

The question is: do you want to appeal to people who don't necessarily have your interests, or do you want to appeal to people who Youtube has identified as having relevant interests? I see different rankings as being something that helps get content to the *right* people.

actually i was trying to optimize one of my videos in order to get more viewers
and i was able to rank it in the first page of YouTube but when i checked it through mobile (while singed out) , its ranking changed from the first page to another page. However, by this notice, i feel like the optimization steps seems to be not useful while signing in.

i guess this is also the same case for google search

Right, but do you want to optimize to get more viewers who Youtube has identified like that type of content, or do you want to optimize to get random viewers who may not even be interested in that type of content?

if i choose my optimization to get random viewers then i will be able to check my ranking just by signing out
but if i choose my optimization to get viewers who Youtube has identified like that type of content, then i guess, i won't be able to check it by signing in (or even by signing out) because, simply, i think my account search results will be different the others accounts search results unless YouTube in either ways have produced common search results for a some classified group of accounts which have the same type of content and interest like me.

it's true that your account wouldn't be exactly the same as an interested viewer's account, but presumably, you make similar content to what you like to watch, so it's a good approximation.
