The Best File Format for YouTube Images

Generally I'm using .png BUT sometimes when I am abroad and I have to use slow mobile connection / bad Wi-Fi from hotel I convert thumbnails to .jpg. Youtube is refusing to upload .png on really slow connections

No one really explained why .PNG is the best, so let me :)

The reason is PNG is one of the best lossless image formats. Lossless means that no quality is lost whatsoever, but the file size is reasonable. It also supports transparency. Most image formats such as JPEG are lossy, meaning they sacrifice quality for a smaller image size. This usually means less colour depth or some detail missing, nothing too major.

Another reason why it is so popular is because unlike some other lossless formats, it is widely supported on the internet and nearly all media editors (photo, video, office programs) support PNG.

Are we talking thumbnails? My thumbnails are jpg files.

I don't know of any other images off the top of my head that we use.

Hey guys,

Big question: Which file format should we use to upload our channel art? There's lots of different ones. Which is the best for the banner and channel icon (and if it is different, the best for Facebook and Twitter).

Thanks! :)
I used Hi quality JPG. Png was too large for me.
