Talk about Suscribers / Public Retention

I've Got It
Hello there world!

I was actually wanting to start a thread about this topic which is something that keeps me a little mad at how things actually are working nowadays and how viewers have so little patience to the point that they don't wanna wait more than 1 minute of your video and then they just close the window for no reason at all or because you were boring or because maybe he just had another video which was better in another tab or window?

Even though we do get subscribers as i have some of mine for example. Ive had other channels and had like 250+ subs. I was then hacked and had to restart everything but thats ok.

My real question about this is. How many of you who click on the "Subscribe" button are actually "Real Subscribers" ? Also, how many of you just Subscribe expecting something from the channel owner you subscribed to? and also, what made you subscribe to a channel when you barely watched a min of a 20 minute video?

I'm sorry its just pretty annoying how things turn out to be and its something i wanted to bring to a discussion with everyone here. Would like some sincere and serious answers.

Thanks to everyone for participating!

Peace!

Danny

Hey Danny,

I think you raise a good point. The cool thing about even less-active/attentive subs, is that your activity is still being broadcasted on another channel (as well as when they react to said content). But, you're right and the larger point I think you're hitting on is audience retention. (we could have a whole separate convo on that topic and how scrutinizing your analytic fields, in relation to audience retention may improve overall viewership)

To answer your direct question: Personally, I will not sub, especially trade subs, if I am not interested in a channel. I wouldn't buy a sport channel from a cable company if I had no interest in that sport either.... Everyone has different motivations and interests and they don't always harmonize that's for sure.

Personally, I look for great content and a large library when subscribing to a channel. Presentation is everything for me. I also appreciate channels that engage with their viewers, if I am taking the time to leave feedback, I in turn want some of that back. I think that's human nature. From what I've seen, the channels which embrace this interactive approach tend to fair better.

Hope you're well and this has been interesting.

Best wishes,
~DMF

It makes me sad seeing my videos with thousands of views yet only 25% of people watch the full average of 20 minutes per video.

That's good man, thats the way it should be, you only subbing and really being a sub just because you like my content for example. It's obvious that not everybody will like all the videos we post, but as I said, at least for gaming, people nowadays are more bound to the game you are playing rather to the Youtuber itself, which is what makes a difference out of a Gaming Channel for example. I mean the youtuber's personality, intros, mood, comments, jokes, interaction with audience, everything. I think thats what should make the difference and why mosts subs are gained. Of course Quality, good video editing is also a plus. Anyways, I still think that so many viewers just suscribe for no reason. Or maybe they're expecting something from you. I just don't understand. But anyways i try everyday to come up with new ideas to make my audience more entertained and happy. I will start practicing more the interaction with the audience thing.

Obviously im not perfect and have my flaws but i try to polish them everytime I can.

I hope things change in the future and give us all better opportunities for growing and having a loyal audience.

Great luck to you Danny. You seem to have a very reasonable and realistic view. Yes, you're right no one is perfect, especially me. I think what you're doing, by asking for other people's feedback is a close as you'll get to any type of the perfect channel. When problems are sourced out to large groups, the thoughts/suggestions etc., gathered and summed up in the aggregate, tend to be a lot closer to the mark than one person's (even an expert's) "answer."

Keep on keepin' on friend =)

I just wished i had more replies to this post man, I think even here people don't feel like writing their opinion. Maybe they don't want to let others know their opinion?

I think sharing experiences is the best way to understand what others think.

A lot of people here (and everywhere for that matter) are self-interested. Try to re-frame everything you do with that in mind: How can I make it about them, but still get what I need out of it? As I said, you have a healthy attitude and expectations, I think that's a large percentage of the battle.

Thanks for the compliment, I am going to record a new video today and really put all my effort in it. I really do hope it has some good reviews!
