The second installment of the YouTube Pro Series is here and it's all about talent management. It's hosted by Benjamin Cook (ninebrassmonkeys) of Becoming YouTube fame.

The videos are broken up into 5 parts: What is a talent manager?, Finding and working with a manager, Benefits of working with an agency, Working with your agency and youtube, and an audience Q&A.

There's some very valuable information in there, so it's a must watch for anyone who wants to make a living on youtube. They also briefly touch on something that isn't very well known-that brand deals become way more important than CPM deals when it comes to making money. Enjoy:






 
Interesting. I had no desire to join a network or partner with anyone after initially reaching out to networks. I thought they were worthless. I looked at quite a few contracts, everyone of them offered talent NOTHING and just specified what the network would be taking. Sorry, not for me (and it shouldn't be for anyone). I like Big Frame's vision of YT and how they can leverage many facets to help YT turn their passions into careers. I love making videos but I can't give them my all. Why? Because it doesn't pay. I have a family and responsibilities. I cannot devote too much time to making videos because I have to meet obligations. If what I did making videos met these obligations making videos would be my number one priority.
 
I thought that it was an excellent presentation.

Unless I am mistaken, Joe Penna, MysterGuitarMan is married to a BigFrame executive. Of course he is going to get good branding deals!

Sarah Penna is the founder/head of Big Frame. She brought in a CEO to help get investors on board, but it's really her that runs the machine.

With smaller networks like Big Frame, unless a company is interested in a brand deal with you personally, there's not much they can do to facilitate a deal-Big Frame doesn't have enough clients for a package deal like Fullscreen or Maker. It's likely that the vast majority of deals for MysteryGuitarMan were due to companies wanting to work with him-not because Big Frame wanted them to work with him.
