TAGS DISAPPEAR from Rankings after a while

Hi,
I have seen my Tag rankings disappear from the video after some time. And only one tag for channel name remains. Why is it so? if people dont search with those tags are they bound to lose the rankings?

Videos get a temporary boost in search rankings during the first 48 hours. After that, your video will go down in rankings into a more long term position. If you're using Tubebuddy, it will only show tag rankings if your video is within the top 20 (Free Version). I find sometimes the ranking a bit glitched and off, but in general it gives a good idea.

Then why do REEL SEO always say to TAG videos properly.. Are they not useful after 48hrs or just that they stay useful irrespective of Rankings

Tags are very useful. But over time there will be more and more videos uploaded with similar tags. And if the ranking disappears from your video it probably means your video lost rank to these newer videos. Your video will keep rank if your video is "better" than everyone else.

If you dont have tags then you decrease your chances of even ranking at all for certain keywords. So you want to keep tagging.

Source? My source is experience. The 48 hour rule is well known by many. But you can simply test it yourself.

Yeah you may be right!!! The quality of video may keep it going up in the search engine if the TAGS are right... thats what I was thinking, as some of my little but most watched videos still carry rankings on their TAGS

have to be careful about reading the rankings on those tags though. i noticed a little flaw. tubebuddy is a plugin on your browser and its looking up rankings on youtube while you are logged into your youtube account. so the rankings might be a little flawed because youtube changes sort based on account activity. and the sort you look at may be different from the sort others look at from their accounts or devices.

sometimes tubebuddy will say im ranking in a really popular keyword that seems a little unbelievable because theres too much competition for that keyword. when i do search through my youtube account ill see my video ranked like tubebuddy said. but if i were to use another browser that is not logged into any account, then my video is not there. and so the sort results through your account is not going to be accurate since it is customized only for your account and not everyone else.

so its just a little thing to take note of when looking at the tag rankings. it can be affected by your account and you may need to double check from a clean browser to confirm.
