They are paid what their views are worth. Your response is basically the definition of bitter. While I make peanuts with this whole YouTube thing, I applaud those who do well despite the odds. If someone likes a creator/video enough to drop a few dollars on them/it, more power to them.
I imagine it won't only be the top users considering YouTube will get a cut either way. A few % of $5 dollars from someone with a million subs is the same amount as a few % from someone with 1,000 subs.
