Sudden Spike in Views?

Hi everyone!

I just posted a new video an hour ago and it only had about 5 views and when I went back to check it a few minutes later it said it has 98 views. There is no information on my analytics page about this video yet.

Is this normal when my other views don't have this many views?

Just google your video title, filter last hour or last 24 hours. Maybe you'll find a blog is got posted on or something, or else search it in twitter or facebook
 
It's absolutely normal that this can happen from time to time. Apart from what @Hazlenuts said check your Analytics in two days for the traffic source report.

Someone shared your video or Youtube suggested it.
 
You probably got lucky with your video title, if you look at my videos you can see exactly what kind of effect a popular title can have
 
It is now at 1,200 views with only 3 thumbs up and 5 comments. My other 2 videos have 46 and 67 views and I have 19 subscribers. It seems a little strange but I guess I won't know where the views came from until I can check on my analytics.
 
Several years ago something similar happened to me, too... I posted a video, and within 5 minutes it had 200+ views... I had about 7 subscribers at the time, and when I checked analytics a few days later, all the views had come from mobile devices.

I'll never know why so many people found my video using their phone, but it was an interesting day. ^^

But 1200 views sounds like something else is going on. I suspect your video was shared by someone -- most likely on another platform where the users may not have YouTube accounts to like/comment with. =)
 
Could be just luck! I had a vid once that as silent for monts and then out of now where it became popular and was watched loads more then my other vids. Just enjoy the views hun!
 
Good job! On the surface I don't see why that one video took off and not the others but count your blessings!!

If it's embedded in a website you'll get views but less likes as most people will watch on the page and not bother going through YouTube. I have videos put on websites often. You'll know where soon and hopefully contact them and maybe let them use more if yours
