sudden rush of subs?

So in the last hour or two i have gained nearly 20subs usually i get between 2-4 a day. is this strange? the only thing i can think of i played another youtuber at FIFA and we both uploaded it to our channels (he has 6k subs) and put links to each other in the description. we both uploaded tonight, could this really cause a sudden rush of subscribers? if so i think i need to find more people to play!
 
It finally updated on the main page within the last hour or two. In addition to that and playing with your friend, you might be seeing some additional growth from people looking on YouTube for soccer/football considering the World Cup just started.
 
That is probably what it was! Congrats thats awesome. There are other factors that could have played into it like these forums but who cares! You got subs!!!!!!!!!!!
 
Ya the world cup is really popular and so is Fifa so That makes sense. The same thing happened to me a couple of days ago except I really don't know where they came from, oh well I'm not complaining ;)
 
It's wonderful to show how collaborating with other Youtubers is a great way to promote and grow ones channel. Ask the person you played against if he got a rush of subs as well.
