Hi everyone. I've just joined because I can't seem to get any help through YouTube itself and I'm having a meltdown.
A lot of my viewers watch my videos with subtitles because English isn't their first language, and I spend a lot of time making sure the subs are accurate. Usually, a short while after I post a video, YT auto-transcribes it and I go through and make sure the spelling and timing is good.
Yesterday - everything broke.
Now, none of the videos I upload auto-translate. When I go to Subtitles, everything looks different. There's a pen icon to 'edit' subtitles, but when I click it, it just refreshes the page and dumps me on the video details section. On every single video (over 220) it looks the same and it now displays a message under English (automatic captions) saying: Ineligible.
It's driving me nuts. I've managed to find one work around by clicking the Subtitles tab on the right, rather than the left, and then 'type manually.' But this takes forever. Having the subs auto-translate saves so much time. I think something has gone wrong, because editing subtitles shouldn't dump you back on the video details page. I've tried Tweeting YT about this, but they just send back generic links on how to subtitle your videos, which doesn't help at all.
Is anyone else experiencing this? Anyone got any suggestions on how to make it work again?
