Hi guys,

Recently "The Game Theorists" posted a video about the "Subscriber burn" algorithm, titled "Yes, PewDiePie. YouTube IS Broken".

In a nutshell, it means that if your subscribers constantly skip videos they will stop getting notifications from your channel. It also means that if you stop uploading videos for two weeks, your subs will also stop receiving notifications from you.

So imagine that if you take a two week vacation in Cancún, you might lose half of your views the next time you upload something.

Have anyone experienced this?

If this is true, it would be essential to know the exact date when your subscribers are burned by the algorithm.

Your thoughts?

It's true, YouTube pushes the content you are most likely to watch onto you. It won't stop posting your videos to all yous subscribers sub boxes, but it does to a portion of them.

WTF youtube?!?

Yeah. I don't know. I watched the game theorist video, but you have to remember it is just a theory.
But I don't watch a lot of the people I'm subscribed to and they still show up in my feed.

It depends mainly on the overall engagement certain channel generates and how close it is to your "YouTube main interests profile". How often you watch their videos is of secondary importance.

I would say that this is a thing, I've watched certain youtubers for years and because I spam watch someone else's or don't watch their videos for a while I don't get informed of their videos.

I think he's referring to the Recommended Videos. Of course people can still see it in their subscription feed and if they have email notifications on. It's just that they won't recommend it and feature it as much because they see no one else watching the channel.

If you are on a vacation in a Cancun you could use scheduled upload option on youtube if you think all this theory is true.
